ABOUT THE ARTIST - Gail Dolphin
Gail has surrounded herself with animals and art since she was a young girl. Her childhood memories are filled with hours spent playing outside, a house full of pets and riding horses. She eventually went on to study Graphic Design and Illustration at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, where her images were again influenced by her love of the outdoors and nature. For several years, she operated a horse boarding farm with her husband and most recently spent three years living fulltime in a 42 foot motorhome. After a life spent owning, riding and working with horses and dogs, her intimate knowledge has become a constant inspiration for her artwork. Her commissioned subjects have ranged from backyard pets such as goats and donkeys, to champion show horses and dogs. In her detailed paintings and drawings, Gail captures the beauty, spirit and individuality of each animal she portrays. She is a versatile artist who excels in a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel and pencil. Known for her horse and pet portraits, Gail is also an accomplished wildlife illustrator. Her work had been purchased by a number of major clients including The Franklin Mint, Lenox Collections, Ford Motor Company, Field and Stream Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Bradford Exchange. Gail moved to the Crystal Coast from her home state of Pennsylvania, drawn to the ocean, wildlife and wonderful arts community this area is known for.
